Watching the Macy's Day parade this year, which is not so typical, or at least, hasn't been for decades.
REALLY enjoying it!! So much diversity represented, and SO many cool throwbacks, music, and characters. Fun!
My Mom LOVED the Rockettes. She had a dream of being one. She loved to dance, and watched every one of the old variety shows. Such great entertainment back in the day. I remember seeing her tear up often when she would watch, especially as she got older. Touched me. I can see her grinning, tapping her toe, and snapping her fingers to whatever was on TV at that moment. So cute. She had a huge heart full of dreams. I truly feel enjoying entertainers was one way for her to express so much of what was deep in her heart. She had quite a story and was a true beacon of rising above life's challenging circumstances.
The Peanuts were my Dad's "thing." Mine too. I used to make them a Peanuts calendar for Christmas every year. My dad and I bonded over a LOT of things, but the Peanuts was the big one. I remember making him a Snoopy model one year. He loved all my little kid gifts. I carry his words, "You're pretty smart, you know that?" with me always. I loved doing those kinds of things for them. A highlight of my childhood. Nice to remember highlights.
Time sure does fly. No matter how much things change, the things we can choose to carry inside our hearts keep connections with loved ones alive. They become such cherished memories and traditions.
These two clips were a welcomed surprise and reminder of my mom and dad, and our family holidays that were so, SO much fun!
Soon, I'll be indulging in another favorite tradition: olive stuffing!!!!! YUM!!!! Something that seemingly only those of us with any Fachy blood enjoy lol! Can't. Get enough of it! I wonder which of my family members are making it as well today?
